Something More

Next in my series of free check-ins for my newsletter, I’m happy to revisit Maya and Kenny again!

Kenny had just sat down at Maya’s small dining room table with the protein shake he planned to have for lunch when the front door flew open. He couldn’t see her, but Maya’s tired grunt echoed into the room. He stared at the back of the door in confusion.

“A little help here,” she called, as her purse flew through the door into the living room, landing next to the couch.

Kenny’s reflexes were top-notch when someone was pointing a gun at him, but Maya’s unpredictability threw all his training out the window. Instead of getting up from the table, he sat still, watching as she threw a pack of toilet paper in next.

“A little help here,” she called out again, but this time was much louder and the irritation in her voice was even clearer.

His instincts with Maya were developing slowly, but his first and strongest was “make Maya laugh,” and the second was “don’t piss Maya off.” Following those directives hadn’t steered Kenny wrong thus far, so he jumped up from the table.

Thus far was one hundred and ninety-one days, to be exact, and he couldn’t wait for one hundred and ninety days more.

He pulled the door open just in time to get hit with a pack of paper towels. He grunted and moved his hand over his stomach. It didn’t hurt, but Maya saw the movement and rolled her eyes.

“Please. Your abs are so hard, you probably hurt the towels.”

“Funny. Move, I’ve got them,” he said, already reaching for the canvas tote bags on the floor around her feet.

Maya clapped her hands happily and laughed tiredly. “Hallelujah,” she said, stomping into the apartment.

“How’d you get all this back from the grocery store by yourself? And why didn’t you call me?” He lifted the five bags in one hand and took a quick look down the hall toward the elevator. Thankfully, it was a straight shot down the hallway, and with three other apartments dotted on either side, there was nowhere for anyone to hide unless someone was standing in the stairwell until the coast was clear. That was what Kenny would have done, which was why he’d placed cameras in strategic spots around the building. There was one on every floor, a couple in all communal spaces, and he had full coverage in the stairwell with motion detectors. So, if anyone moved in the stairwell, Kenny knew.

But he was quickly becoming exhausted from all that knowing.

If it were up to Kenny, he would have moved Maya out of this apartment the day they got back from Singapore. The apartment was secure enough or Lane and Monica wouldn’t have let Kierra live here for so long, but it was a bit of a logistical nightmare for Kenny’s living quarters. He wanted to talk to her about it, but he still felt the need to tread lightly with Maya. Even though they’d been together for months, he couldn’t shake the feeling that if he pressed Maya too hard, she would disappear and take his happiness with her.

Once he was satisfied the coast was clear, he shut the door and locked it.

By the time he turned around, Maya had kicked her shoes off and was pulling her sweater over her head.

“Maya?”

“Huh? I’m so fucking hot.”

He was about to pose his questions again, but his gaze shifted to the hem of her sweater as she bared more skin and his words got lost.

Maya dropped her shirt on the floor, then shoved her hands into her leggings and started pushing them over her hips. “What?” she huffed, still catching her breath.

“Huh?” Kenny couldn’t quite focus on anything because Maya was shifting her weight from side-to-side as she worked the tight fabric down her body. Every inch of her bared flesh was jiggling. Her breasts were threatening to spill from the cups of her bra. He could have forgotten his name in that moment, but never hers.

She looked up at him. Her face was flushed red. There was a thin sheen of sweat over her skin. Her brown lips were parted, and he could see her pink tongue through them. His dick lurched in his shorts. It had been months, and he was still amazed at how easy it was for her to turn him on. It wasn’t even the things he would have expected, like Maya walking around the apartment after her morning shower in a microfiber towel wrapped around her hair and nothing else. It was simple things, like Maya asleep on the couch with her head in his lap.

Still, everything about Maya made Kenny horny.

Her tongue moved over her lips, and he had to shake his head to get his brain back on track. “Why didn’t you call me to pick you up? Or we could have gone together,” he offered, not wanting to sound accusatory.

“It’s no big deal,” she said, going back to pushing her leggings down to her ankles.

“Sounded like a big deal when you threw that toilet paper in here,” he said, forcing his gaze onto the crown of her head. He couldn’t look anywhere else in any direction because Maya’s curves were moving again, and he was feeling weak.

“I was walking back from the library, and when I passed the grocery store, I remembered that we needed a few things.”

“This is more than a few things,” he said, bending over to grab the paper towels in his free palm.

By now, Maya had straightened up and was trying to balance on her right foot and pull her left foot from her pants in a fluid motion. “Um…” she started and then licked her lips.

He wouldn’t have thought Maya was hiding anything if she hadn’t done that. He’d spent all the months of their relationship and all the months before studying her expressions, feeding his obsession. So, he knew that lip lick meant Maya had a secret.

In that moment, Kenny had to stop being her besotted boyfriend and be the man who would keep her safe. Or maybe the latter was just an expression of the former. Still, he watched her lick her lips again and forced his brain to focus on the details that mattered right now rather than the ones that made his dick hard.

“I know when you’re lying,” he threatened.

“I wasn’t going to lie!” She sounded offended.

“You always yell when you lie,” he replied in a sedate voice.

“Damn,” she breathed. “Okay, fine. I was walking by the store and realized what we needed, but honestly, I was feeling lazy and thought about getting a delivery. But then I freaked out because that would be a paper trail someone could trace to me and then you!” Her voice went up an octave at that last word. Her eyes widened in shock as if she was having that thought for the first time all over again, and it made Kenny’s chest tighten.

He bent over to drop their groceries and then walked across their small living room.

Maya was standing, hot, uncomfortable, and scared, with her leggings wrapped around her right ankle. Her bottom lip was trembling. She’d never been more beautiful. He’d never loved her more.

He’d thought he was obsessed with her when they weren’t anything more to one another than usernames and money transactions through computer screens, but that strange parasocial relationship had nothing on what he felt for her now.

Kenny crashed into Maya’s body and bent down to wrap his hands around the back of her thighs, pulling her against his chest. He’d never get over how good he felt when she happily wrapped her arms around his neck. He lifted her into his arms, helped her to wrap her legs around his waist.

She moaned when his hands moved up her thighs to the bottom curve of her ass.

She felt perfect in his arms, like this was exactly where she was supposed to be. In all honesty, Kenny was only certain of her safety when he was holding her like this. Her warm skin mixed with the oils of her perfume, and he felt intoxicated by her smell.

His dick was so hard, it hurt.

“Tell me,” he rasped against her warm chest.

She licked her lips, but this time her face told him her hesitation was about her arousal rather than subterfuge. “I don’t want to fuck up and get you in trouble or killed.”

“Don’t worry about me,” he said, resisting the urge to lick down the crease between her breasts.

“Now if I said that to you, you’d blow a gasket.” She bent her head forward and brushed his mouth with hers. “I worry about the people I love,” she whispered against his lips.

His brain took in as much of that moment as possible. The minty taste of her breath. That one curl falling against his cheek. The way she said the word love. The fact that there was no hesitation in her voice. That she’d said it to him.

She cupped the back of his head with her right hand, and he tilted his head back. Their mouths moved softly together. She opened her lips, and he slipped his tongue inside. He wanted to stay here forever, and she kissed him back as if she wanted the same.

They kissed so long Kenny started to move one hand down the crease of her legs and under the fabric of her panties. He rubbed her clit in soft, slow turns, and she started to squirm against his stomach.

Maya had to be the one to pull back from the kiss because Kenny sure wasn’t thinking along those lines.

“So, can we get grocery delivery?” she panted.

“Sorry,” he admitted sadly, lifting his mouth to kiss her chin. He stroked his fingers through the folds of her pussy to soften the blow.

She frowned. “I thought you’d say that.”

“But we can go to the grocery store together whenever I’m here.”

Her frown deepened. “Are you leaving?”

His hand stopped moving at the sadness in her voice. If he thought fingerfucking her would have improved her mood, he would have done that, but he always thought it best not to muddle her feelings when it came to his job. Still, he nurtured the tiny seed of hope that one day, an orgasm would ease her worries, even if it didn’t ease his.

“Not officially, but something’s going on with Chanté and Asif, and I’m on standby, just in case.”

“So, I’ll be here alone?”

He shook his head. “I was thinking you could go to Monica and Lane’s while I’m gone. Or maybe we can have Kierra stay here.”

Maya rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t bet on that as a plan A, B, or C.”

“Okay.”

“I don’t want to have to leave my house every time you leave.”

“You don’t have to. You can stay here.”

“Would I be safe?”

“Absolutely,” he said.

She raised an eyebrow. “What aren’t you saying? And don’t lie to me. I can’t tell when you’re lying.” She rolled her eyes. He could tell it pained her to admit that.

He wouldn’t lie to her, though. Not again. “You’ll be safe here, but I hate letting you out of my sight.”

She started to smile at that.

“I’m also so fucking in love with you that I’m terrified if I breathe wrong, you’ll realize I’m a big ass nerd and leave me.”

“I know you’re a big ass nerd,” she giggled. “I also know you could kill me from hundreds of feet away and you like bending me up like a pretzel when we fuck. You’re basically perfect in my book. Now that you’re mine, they’re gonna have to pry me off you with the jaws of death.”

In that moment, Kenny’s nervous system was starting to overload. He could hardly understand half the emotions swirling in his chest, but the ones that covered it all were love and then disbelief.

Maya scratched at his scalp and smiled down at him. “And if I have to deep throat you every night to get that through your head, me and my throat are ready.”

“We should get a new apartment,” Kenny spat abruptly. “Or a house. Hell, if you want me to buy an island, I can do that too.”

“Oooh, I’ve never been with a man who had enough money to splurge on me to make me feel safe. This is exciting. I don’t know, though. I like my apartment.”

“No, you don’t,” Kenny laughed. “You’re always complaining about the apartment upstairs and the hot water and all the people who never switch their laundry in time.”

“Oh,” she said.

“But we can find a place you’ll love. A place where you can have a filming room.”

“Ooh, if we get a house, I won’t have to worry about filming at night.”

“Exactly. And I can make sure it’s safe and secure when I’m not there.”

“So then I won’t have to worry about you, and you don’t have to worry about me.”

“I’m always going to worry about you, Maya.”

A blush moved over her cheeks, and he started to move his fingers along the cleft of her sex again.

“Yeah,” she whined, dipping her head to kiss him again.

He didn’t hesitate now to slip his fingers inside her. She was warm and so fucking wet.

“Are you sure, Maya?” he whispered against her mouth.

“Yeah,” she whined again and licked his lips. Kenny waited. Watched as her eyelids dipped and she savored the taste of him on her tongue. Felt her pussy soften and clench around his fingers. He waited for her to fully process his words. “Wait. Sure about what?”

He smiled up at her while moving his fingers faster inside her. “Are you sure you’re okay with moving? I don’t want to upend your life just because.”

She shrugged and then clamped her lips shut as an orgasm rippled through her and her pussy weeped down his fingers.

Kenny slowed his movements, but only because he wanted to have a serious conversation with her. Well, as serious as they could get with the ambient sound of him pushing three digits now inside her dripping pussy.

“Maya?” He called her name after her breathing returned almost to normal.

“It’s just an apartment,” she gasped. “Me and Kierra chose it because we could afford it.”

Kenny was trying to keep his excitement in check. “But you like the neighborhood.”

“Faster,” she whispered, starting to bounce her hips on his hand.

His dick was throbbing in his gym shorts. He needed to wrap this up quickly. “You like the neighborhood, Maya.”

“There are libraries and food co-ops in lots of neighborhoods. Oh, shit.” Her eyes slammed shut, and her pussy tightened around his fingers as she came again.

He stopped moving his fingers altogether now, holding her tight around the waist as she shivered against him, wetting his hand to the wrist.

“Is that all you need, Maya?” he asked.

She hummed, tilting her head down. Her eyes tried to flutter open and failed. She shook her head.

“What else do you need, baby?”

She dropped her mouth to his and smiled. “Balls deep,” she groaned.

“I do that here. What do you need to move?”

She kissed his bottom lip, and it took all his willpower not to kiss her back, because if he started, he’d never stop. Her hips started moving again. She could get herself off like this. He knew her body well enough to know that she was sitting right on the edge of overwhelm, and every orgasm, instead of giving her a release, would just wind her up even more. Soon enough, Maya would start coming, and if she was good, he wouldn’t let her stop.

But first… “What else, baby?” he croaked out.

“A garden,” she moaned. Her hips slammed against his stomach, and she shuddered through a quick, fast climax that left his hand dripping. “Ssshit, I don’t care. Guest rooms for my siblings. Two bathrooms. Whatever. Oh, god,” she cried out as his fingers started moving again.

“I just want to keep you safe and make you happy,” Kenny whispered between her lips.

“That,” she ground out, eyes shut tight. “I want that. That’s it.” She gasped loudly, and Kenny decided to put them out of their misery.

He pulled his wet hand from her pussy, and she whimpered. It took some coaxing for her to unwrap her legs from his waist, but as soon as she did and her feet hit the floor, he turned her around and bent her over the couch.

He loved Maya’s laughter when she was horny and couldn’t push his shorts down fast enough. He grabbed his dick gingerly, too close to the edge himself.

Maya had both hands on the arm of the couch. She looked over her right shoulder at him and arched her back. Her pupils were completely blown, and she made this high-pitched sound when he pushed inside of her that made his brain short-circuit. Thankfully, his nervous system stayed the course, and he started moving in and out of Maya with slow, deep strokes.

He couldn’t believe his own restraint, even as he felt it fraying.

“Baby,” she moaned once. And then again. And then one more time before he realized that she wasn’t just crying out her pleasure, she was trying to get his attention.

He had to blink a few times to focus on her face. In the end, it was easier to fall forward and cover her body with his. He let go of her hips to grab her breasts. His hips shifted faster.

She reached back to grab at his waist and hold him close.

“I love you,” he groaned.

She shook her head, gasping. “This is something more than love.”

As always, Kenny knew Maya was right.
